FAQ's

  • What happens if there are no PTSA board members for 2024-2025?

    • The current Waikoloa PTSA board and its members will follow these bylaw procedures to dissolve the PTSA at this location (page 6)

  • Why would I want to be on the board?

    • As a board member, you get to gather like-minded community members, other parents, teachers, and students to create experiences, improve the school, and bring people together for positive change. Your impact can be as small as running fun events or as big as advocating for policy changes, curriculum changes, or improving food quality in the cafeteria.

  • How much time will it take to be a board member?

    • The minimum is 2 hours per month to prepare and run the general meetings for members. There is no maximum.

  • If I'm on the board, does that mean I'm in charge of planning and running all the events?

    • No! Members are recruited to execute events. We encourage you to attend the events but do not overload yourself with activities that should be planned and executed by member volunteers.

  • Who can serve on the board?

    • Board members can be Waikoloa School teachers and/or parents of registered Waikoloa School students.

  • Who can join as a PTSA member?

    • Community members, students, parents, teachers, and anyone not working in or affiliated with a political office.

Past Accomplishments

The Waikoloa PTSA was proud to raise enough money to install some much needed air conditioning units in the classrooms during the 2021/2022 school year!  By removing the discomfort of being overheated, both teachers and students can focus more on learning and less on staying cool.

During the 2023/2024 School Year, the PTSA hosted a family movie night, funded coffee for school staff for the year, funded the buildout of an outdoor library classroom, school beautification events, Hoolaulea costumes, teachers appreciation, custodian appreciation, and various drinks and snacks for volunteers who worked on our projects!
